Now that I have met DOT……YES…….a beautiful and easily understood concept toward being in touch with the universe! Thank you Chuck Metz for an amazing journey in a delightful volume that is going to every person on my gift list. This book treasure needs to be in secular and religious classrooms as a catalyst for change toward a more love filled human experience.
Remember the place in the book where DOT’s creative energy can be thought of as a violin melody? It’s like a huge, wonderful song being sung right now, all around us. It’s not a song you sing with your mouth; it’s a song that the whole universe is playing! This song is made up of everything there is: the stars, the planets, and even you and me.
Well, you can also think of the universe like a giant piano, and every star is a key on the piano. Every time you do something good, learn something new, or laugh with a friend, it’s like you’re playing a note on that piano, adding your sound to the universe’s song.
Now, what if I told you that you have a super special part in this song? It’s called ‘IS’, and it means just being you, being here, and doing all the good things that make you happy and help others. ‘IS’ is like saying YES! to being a part of the universe’s music.
And there’s no place for ‘NOT IS’—that’s like saying no to being in the song, and who wants to miss out on being part of the biggest, most awesome song ever?
Every time you’re kind, every time you’re curious, and every time you make our world a bit better, you’re singing with the universe. And guess what? The universe loves having you in its song, because you make it even more joyful.
So, let’s all be proud to be ‘IS’, to be a part of this cosmic song of joy. Let’s say YES! to adding our voices and making this universe song the happiest it can be. Are you ready to sing your part? Let’s do it together!
You know how it feels when you wake up and the sun is shining, and you have a whole day to play, learn, and explore? Isn’t it amazing? That’s what we call saying ‘YES!’ to life. And life is full of these ‘YES!’ moments. It’s like being the main character in your own awesome story.
Imagine if you have a box of crayons. Using them to color is like saying ‘YES!’ to creating something beautiful. Not using them is like saying ‘no thanks’ to all those amazing colors. When we choose to ‘be’, to ‘do’, and to ‘create’, we’re filling our days with color. That’s what ‘IS’ is all about.
And you know what? Every one of you is like a crayon, adding your unique color to the world. When we’re here and we choose to do good things, help others, and take care of our planet, we’re making the world brighter and better. That’s why being (‘IS’) is so much better than not being (‘NOT IS’). Because every ‘IS’ makes the world a more wonderful place to live.
Let’s all say ‘YES!’ to being kind, ‘YES!’ to being curious, and ‘YES!’ to making our world the best place it can be. Together, we can make every day a ‘YES!’ day. Let’s say ‘YES! to a better world!’

YES! is a book for children…and for their parents.
Children bring joy and renewal into the world. Their innocent wonder at all they see restores a bit of that in us. We try and extend that childhood as long as we can. Too soon, we know, experience will tarnish that innocence as life’s difficulties take their toll.
YES! offers a simple, positive message about the world in which our children find themselves. Fundamental physics blends with an equally fundamental message common to many secular and religious philosophies – that existence is inherently better than non-existence. IS! is BETTER than NOT IS, as the book reminds us.
It is hoped fundamentals around love and existence can be realized as common to our collective humanity as well as our cultural diversity. Difficult questions around pain, sorrow, and other hurtful life events remain open for discussion by the diverse cultural wisdom of communities across the world.
Read aloud, YES! becomes a dialogue between adult and child that explores existence. It offers simple suggestions that help bring children into the difficult adult discussions around cultural conflict, environmental sustainability, and so many other challenges that face us today.
When read individually by parents and children, the book becomes a common thought space for the inevitable questions children bring.
