A Note to Parents, Grandparents, and the Many Adults Children Love

Children bring joy and renewal into the world. Their innocent wonder at all they see restores a bit of that in us. We try and extend that childhood as long as we can. Too soon, we know, experience will tarnish that innocence as the difficulties of life take their toll.

Yes! A Quantum Song of Love offers a simple, positive message about the world in which our children find themselves. Fundamental physics blends with an equally fundamental message common to many secular and religious philosophies – that existence is inherently better than non-existence. IS! is BETTER than NOT IS as the book reminds us.

Touching DOT, Touching People shifts focus to human societies and the complexities of human interaction and cooperation. The book examines basic rules, deeply embedded in human nature, that guide social behavior and promote cooperation. Fear, often stemming from perceived threats, leads to the breakdown of these rules and fuels conflict and division. Children are equipped with “superpowers” (kindness, understanding, respect, and fairness) and tools (listening, communication, empathy, etc.) to combat fear and promote cooperation. There is no THEM. There is only US…BROKEN is their rallying call.

In DOT and the Attention Merchants, attention moves to the digital world and the manipulative tactics used by “Attention Merchants” (social media platforms, app developers, etc.). Olivia, a girl pulled into the digital world, confronts the Attention Merchants’ efforts to manipulate emotions, create addictive behaviors, and control what users see. Pause, think, and choose…IS! becomes her guide.

DOT and the Balance Keepers addresses sustainability and stewardship of the earth. Olivia once again is involved in a learning adventure as Wren, one of four Balance Keepers, takes her on a whirlwind tour to save the planet.

Read aloud, the books become a dialogue between adult and child that explores existence. They offer simple suggestions that help bring children into the difficult adult discussions around cultural conflict, environmental sustainability, and so many other challenges that face us today.

When read individually by parents and children, they become a common thought-space for the inevitable questions that children will bring.

At its heart, YES! is actionable philosophy, but philosophy – conscious or unconscious – is at the heart of all we do in our worlds…
